François-Xavier Foillard was born in Versailles in 1979. He began studying industrial design in Paris in 1999. He graduated from Olivier de Serres, Institute of art and Design School (ENSAAMA) in 2001, and from
Les Ateliers - Paris Design Institute (ENSCI) in 2006.
He started his career at various design studios in Paris, including Normal Studio and R'Pure, working on different aspects of design, from urban furniture to industrial products. At the same time he continued working on other projects for private clients.
In 2008 he joined Christophe Pillet Design Studio, extending his industrial design experience to interior design. He contributed to a large range of projects such as John Richmond, Otard, Fermob and Emeco.
Since 2009 he has collaborated with Lacoste Design Studio, creating and developing furniture for their new retail concept.
At the same time, he has continued and developed his own projects. His personal approach to design is the search for a pure and functional aesthetic, eliminating excess shape and form. He likes to imagine everyday objects as tools.
His creations have been exhibited at St Etienne International Design Biennial and Maison&Objet Design fair.
